Krishna (Telugu actor) Biography
Hattamaneni Siva Rama Krishna Murthy, better known by his stage name Krishna, was an Indian actor, director, and producer. On May 31, 1943, he was born, and on November 15, 2022, he died. He is most well known for his work in Telugu cinema. He played a wide range of characters in more than 350 films over the duration of his cinematic career, which lasted five decades. In the media, he is frequently referred to as a “Superstar.” In 2009, the Indian government awarded him the Padma Bhushan honour in honour of his noteworthy contributions to the Indian film industry.
He was elected in 1989 to serve as a Congress party representative in the British Parliament. He also received the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award for the South in 1997 in addition to the honorary doctorate from Andhra University in 2008. He died in the early morning hours of November 15, 2022, from a cardiac arrest.
Krishna began his acting career in supporting roles in films like Paruvu Prathishta (1962), Padandi Mundhuku (1962), and Kula Gothralu (1961). (1963).

Over the course of his career, Krishna collaborated with a number of renowned filmmakers, such as Adurthi Subba Rao, V. Madhusudhan Rao, K. Viswanath, Bapu, Dasari Narayana Rao, and K. Raghavendra Rao. He also holds the record for the longest run of collaborations with a single actress, working on more than 48 films with Vijaya Nirmala and more than 47 with Jaya Prada. Krishna, who is 69 years old, declared that he will leave politics in December of that year.
Early and personal life
Krishna was born at Burripalem on May 31, 1943, which is now a part of the Guntur district of the Andhra Pradesh state. His father is Ghattamaneni Raghavayya Chowdary, and his mother is Nagaratnamma.
Vijaya Nirmala and Indira Devi were Krishna’s spouses while he was alive (1952–2022). (1969–2019). He and his wife, Indira Devi, had five children altogether: Padmavathi, Manjula, Priyadarshini, and two sons, Ramesh Babu and Mahesh Babu. Vijaya Nirmala and Krishna first met on the Sakshi set. Despite having collaborated on close to 40 movies, the couple never had children.
Ramesh Babu was a film producer, but Mahesh Babu is regarded as one of the highest-paid actors in Telugu cinema.
Manjula is wed to actor and producer Sanjay Swaroop, Padmavathi is wed to Galla Jayadev, and Priyadarshini is wed to actor and producer Sudheer Babu.

Early work: 1962–1965
He had cameo appearances in supporting roles in early films like Paruvu Prathishta (1962), Padandi Mundhuku (1962), and Kula Gothralu (1961). After that, he was granted a part in Thene Manasulu, a 1965 movie, where he played one of the male roles. Even though the film’s financial backers put pressure on the director, Adurthi Subba Rao, to cut the character Krishna, the movie was released in the way that was originally intended. Adurthi made the decision to use the same actors in his follow-up film, Kanne Manasulu, as a result of its success.
In addition, Krishna was selected to portray the title part in Doondi and Sunderlal Nehta’s hugely successful espionage thriller Gudachaari 116 (1966), which is credited with popularising the genre in Telugu cinema. Krishna was well known for his action movie roles, but he also appeared in movies like Undamma Bottu Pedatha (1970), Atthagaaru Kotthakadalu, and Marapurani Katha (1967). (1968). Agni Pariksha (1970), Mosagallaku Mosagadu (1971), Pandanti Kapuram (1972), Devudu Chesina Manushulu (1973), and Alluri Seetharama Raju (1974) are just a few of the high-budget movies he oversaw under this umbrella (1974). Krishna founded Vijaya Krishna movies, a different production company, along with his second wife Vijaya Nirmala. Together, they produced a number of critically acclaimed movies, including Meena and Devadasu.
Both Alluri Seetharamaraju, which was released in 1974, and Mosagallaki Mosagadu, which was released in 1971 and established the Cowboy film subgenre, were innovative in many ways.
